Lower Back Pain Treatment

The most common reason people walk through our door, and the condition where quick-fix care fails most predictably. We treat the pattern behind the pain.

Shockwave therapy treatment applied to a patient's lower back at Elevated Sport and Spine.

Sound familiar?

  • A dull ache across the beltline that builds through the day
  • Sharp catches when you bend, lift, or stand up from sitting
  • Stiffness first thing in the morning that loosens with movement
  • Pain after long drives, flights, or desk days
  • Flare-ups after golf, skiing, yard work, or a heavy gym session
  • Tightness that radiates into the glutes or hamstrings

What's usually driving it

Hips that stopped doing their job

The low back is built for stability; the hips are built for motion. When hip rotation or hinge capacity disappears, desk years, old injuries, one-sided sports, the lumbar spine gets recruited for motion it hates producing. It complains.

A core that braces wrong, not weak

Most back-pain patients don't have a weak core. They have a bracing strategy that locks the ribs, holds the breath, and overloads the same two segments on every lift. Re-teaching pressure management usually beats another thousand crunches.

Tissue that never finished healing

After a strain, guarded muscle and irritated joints can persist long after the original injury: a loop of protective tension that needling, targeted adjustment, and graded loading are very good at breaking.

How we treat lower back pain

01

First we calm it down: specific adjustments to restore motion in the segments that are locked, dry needling for the guarded muscle around them, and shockwave where chronic tissue changes are part of the picture. Most patients feel meaningfully better inside the first few visits.

02

Then we fix why it happened: rebuilding hip motion, re-training your hinge and bracing strategy, and progressively loading the pattern until your back trusts it under real life: deadlifts, powder days, toddlers, luggage.

03

The plan ends. That's the point. You leave with a short maintenance routine and the understanding of your own mechanics to manage flare-ups yourself, and the door's open if something new comes up.

Services we use for lower back pain

When it's not a job for us

Back pain with loss of bowel or bladder control, saddle numbness, progressive leg weakness, fever, unexplained weight loss, or following significant trauma needs medical evaluation first. We'll tell you immediately and help you get to the right provider. The same is true if your story suggests a fracture or other non-mechanical cause. Honest triage is part of the job.

Lower Back Pain questions

Usually not. Imaging findings correlate poorly with back pain, disc bulges are common in pain-free people, and most guidelines recommend starting with conservative care unless red flags are present. If your exam suggests imaging is warranted, we'll say so and coordinate it.
